Simple is STILL best for small business websites

Keep it simple stupid!I wrote about this in June – how many small business owners get bogged down in unnecessary concerns about making their website look awesome or complex or just awesomely complex!

Nice to see this article from the guys at Mashable “8 Tips for Small Business Homepage Design” which includes this as their #1 tip – Keep it simple!

In their words:

Therefore, as a small business owner, keep your homepage simple. The page should communicate your product or service either with a stand-out design or a simple slogan.

Period! No flashing widgets, scrolling thingies or photos of the waterfall in the company entrance.
